Coach Berman was a big part of my life. He was my coach during my baseball career in college and he was a guiding light during some difficult times as a young student athlete. Bergy gave me patience and opportunity to rebound from mistakes I made and as a result I have benefited greatly.
Baseball and sports are filled with gags that many would deem inappropriate- it is a shame that this gag apparently went to far in the eyes of those involved. I have been around sports my entire life and can tell you that I have witnessed much more than was outlined in these allegations. Each and every year I look forward to seeing Coach to thank him for all he contributed to my life. I am saddened that the man who gave me so many second chances will possibly not get another himself. In baseball and in life, people make mistakes, say and do things they regret- Bergy deserves the benefit of the doubt and that is exactly what he will get from me.
