Facebook Short and Long Descriptions

There is much talk in the marketing world about the transition from SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to SMO (Social Media Optimization) and regardless of whether you agree that SEO is dead or that Social Media Marketing is the future, I think everyone agrees that if you do either one- they must be optimized.

The short and long description areas of your business Facebook page is the content that is pulled through to auto generated ads that are displayed on Facebook when you promote your page.  The quality of this content and the way it looks, sounds and fits is very important when the goal is customer engagement.

Make sure you spend some time and thought in this area, remember with very limited text characters, you must think in short headlines- just like a tweet......don’t be afraid to change this text to see what works best in connecting with your target.

The logo used by Facebook is pulled from your profile, so this also needs to be considered when promoting your page.  Marriott has made the decision to use the standard Marriott M in this profile spot for all hotels in their network.  For Marriott Golf, the focus is on the individual course logo in this spot for consistency....

If you have any questions about using Facebook to promote your business reach out to us, we would love to chat and share some ideas that may help spark new opportunities.
