If you listen to the people who answer calls for businesses, sometimes it shocks me to find it sounding like business is so good that they forgot the spirit to serve. Business is so good, that I don't need you attitude. Every call is an opportunity to show the customer you are so excited for the call and the “opportunity” to work with them or earn their business. Whether business is good or bad, it shouldn't matter. Sometimes I think this simple action is forgotten…..probably because the business has been battered and bruised into thinking you make money by focusing on money….but I think the opportunity when the phone rings is to really show our true spirit to serve and if we are successful, we will significantly change our business over 365 days. This should be true on the phone, the web, email, and social today. Show people that you generally want to serve with with such an amazing spirit or passion that it is impossible for them not to want to feel that energy again.
Being great is not being average.
