the thing I really like about msft surface is that they are consistently evolving it, so if you like it in current state- which I do- not all do, but I really do...then you can feel very secure to know that it will consistently improve...as long as you have power, that is why I need surface pro 2 with 256 because it gets the 8gb.
win 8 is very light weight, which means it is very efficient with ram....8gb ram on the surface is like 16gb of ram on older machines. I am very serious about this.
last point...promise.
and the argument that the experience isn't there yet is outlandish...the experience of win 8 is very strong- very deep layered...and in terms of apps- I think the world is in app overload. I download apps, use them once and remove...most things you can get with apps are now optimized for mobile web. apps are still huge, but the key is to run a device with as few apps as humanly possible. more apps, more lag.
the issue with msft has always been hardware...now that the hardware with touch screen and ssd drives and smaller form factor, windows is very well positioned. I am in business, so the apps msft provide have always been in my mind far superior...
not only in providing me with what I need word, excel, powerpoint, etc, but also in the fact that other business people I dealt with in corporate environment also used the same software so we were easy to co-mingle, proposals, contracts, budgets, etc.....
the new msft CEO has put the breaks on the office suite moving to ipad.
I like him.
